Ruined Tower

Ruined Tower

Ruined Tower

Description: A crumbling stone tower, ominous and looming. Once the site of a climactic siege.

Tone & Feel: Precarious and memory-laden, bristling with necromantic energy

Tier: 2

Type: Traversal

Difficulty: 13

Potential Adversaries:

Battle Box, Skeletons (Skeleton Dredge, Skeleton Warrior, Skeleton Archer, Skeleton Knight)

Features

Collapsed Stairway - Passive

The spiral stairway leading up the tower has partially collapsed. A character may leap the gap with an Agility Roll (they take advantage if going down the stairwell instead of up). Use of a grappler or a character tying a rope for their companions can give advantage on this or any other traversal action within the tower.

Where along the broken stairway could the PCs anchor a grappler or a rope? Where along the tower has the wall been shattered, revealing the open sky?

Endless Patrol - Action (2)

The long-dead guardians of this tower are unceasing in their duty. Summon a Skeleton Knight and a number of Skeleton Dredges equal to the number of party members. They appear at a Far distance or a doorway within Close distance.

How might they be freed from their eternal unrest? What are they protecting?

Crumbling Structure - Action

The stone structure of the tower gives way in a very close area, forcing all characters within to make an Agility Reaction Roll or fall through the floor, taking 1d20 phy damage when they land.

What lies below? Has someone set a trap beneath the floor?

Spectral Storm - Action

Manifest a ghostly echo of the thunderstorm that ruined the tower during a climactic battle in decades past. The storm lasts until the end of the scene. While the storm is raging, all traversal rolls are made with disadvantage and the difficulty of Crumbling Structure reaction rolls is increased by 2 (to 15).

What ghostly echoes of battle can you hear while the storm rages?

Ghostly Lightning - Action - Fear

If Spectral Storm is already active, spend a Fear to lash out with a ghostly lightning bolt against all characters within a Very Close area within the tower. Each character within that area must make an Agility Reaction Roll or suffer 2d20 mag damage (half damage on success, or no damage on a critical).

What strange smell fills the air when this magical echo strikes? Which PCs feel hair on their limbs rise up with static electricity?
