Engraved Sigils - Passive

Large markings and engravings have been made in the mountainside. A character with a relevant background or experience will identify them as weather magic making the icy winds here more deadly. Any character may make a Knowledge to recall information about the sigils and potential information about their creators and/or how to dispel them (Spellcast 15). On a critical, a PC can recognize that the sigils are of a style created by faerie enchanters and gains advantage to dispel the magic.

Who laid this enchantment? Are they nearby? hy did they want the weather to be more daunting?

Icy Winds - Reaction

Countdown (Loop 4)

When the PCs enter the Mountain Pass, set a Countdown (Loop 4) that ticks down each time the characters take an action. When triggered, all characters traveling through the pass must make a StrengthReaction Roll or mark Stress. Characters wearing clothes appropriate for extreme cold gain advantage on these rolls.

What parts of the PC’s bodies go numb first? How do they try to keep warm as they press forward?

Avalanche - Action - Fear

Spend a Fear to have the weather magic carved into the mountain cause an avalanche. All characters must make an action roll (any trait) to avoid (Agility) or weather (Strength) the avalanche. Thost that fail are bowled over and carried down the mountain. Characters may get advantage if they are tied to a rope & pitons or other climbing gear. Any character that fails is knocked down the mountain by a Far distance, marking Stress and taking 2d20 phy damage. On a success, the character still marks Stress.

How do the PCs try to weather the avalanche? What approach do the characters take to find one another when some of their number go hurtling down the mountainside?

Raptor Nest Nest – Action (2)

Two Giant Eagles appear at a Very Far distance as the PCs enter the raptor’s hunting grounds. They identify the PCs as likely prey.

How long has it been since the eagles last found prey? Do they have eggs in their nest, or unfledged young?

Stony peaks that pierce the clouds, with a twisting path winding its way up and over through many switchbacks.
