Description

Earthkin are humanoids whose bodies are made of flesh and earth. Descended from earth elementals, members of this ancestry are formed of flesh and rock, crystal, clay, soil, sand, or a mixture of these materials. Some are primarily flesh and blood with just one earthen feature, such as skin the color or texture of stone or crystal formations that adorn their heads like hair. Others are a combination, often asymmetrical unions of muscle and natural minerals. Still others are almost entirely soil and stone. Earthkin might choose to mold and decorate the mineral portions of their form by carving designs, embedding gems or metals, or even planting seeds that bloom into adorning foliage. Their coloring comes from their elemental lineage, as even those who are more flesh than earth come in hues reminiscent of marble, gemstones, sand, soil, and more.

These kin begin their lives as small lumps of earth, such as a boulder, a ball of clay, or a crystal cluster. Though they’ll develop their more humanoid features fairly quickly, earthkin age slowly for most of their approximately 300-year lifespan. Their average height at adulthood ranges from 5 to 6½ feet tall, and the shape of their body is strongly influenced by the primary material it’s composed of. Many earthkin’s injuries appear like fissures in stone; even long after the initial damage has healed, these cracks continue to slowly repair. When they die, earthkin eventually crumble into piles of earth.
